about

Rataplan! That’s the Go Down Records release parade of the year 2021, led by two fresh 2022 premieres! But let’s go in order.
2021 beginned with the single ‘Wastin’ Time’ by Quiet Confusion. Today two brand new singles kick off 2022, as a prelude to records due out in spring. ‘Predators’ by Gunash featuring Nick Oliveri from the album All You Can Hit, out in April. ‘I’ll Always Be The Man From Yesterday’ by Lu Silver from his solo album Luneliness, out in May.
Last year saw moments of near normality and still sudden lockdowns. Despite these ups and downs, two young bands made their debuts with no hesitation. The Hornets with the brilliant album Heavier Than A Stone and Malota with the furious EP The Uninvited Guest.
New stuff from three heavyweights as well. Alice Tambourine Lover with their first Italian EP Forse Non Sei Tu, Prehistoric Pigs with their mighty fourth album The Fourth Moon and Small Jackets with their long-awaited fifth album Just Like This!
From the archives jump out the reissues of two of our greatest live records: Yawning Man’s Live At Maximum Festival performed by the original line-up and Not Moving’s Live In The Eighties with digital rockumentary included. Both recordings are available again to show the unique energy spread by the stage and the audience. That same fever pitch can be found on two other unreleased live records: OJM’s Live At Rocket Club and Ananda Mida’s Karnak EP. The repress of the anthology by American surf band Link Protrudi And The Jaymen completes this list.
One further proof of the synergies that only gigs and festivals can trigger is Major League Heavy Rock by the two German bands Hellamor and Red Stone Chapel. This split album comes from the friendship of Ralfi (Hellamor’s singer and promoter of the Stoned From The Underground festival in Erfurt) and Max (co-founder of Go Down Rec. and drummer for OJM and Ananda Mida).
It goes without saying that our best wish for this year is that independent live music can once again find venues and regular scheduling. This time for real! Long live rock’n’roll!
